Community Standards & Safety Policy

Find your people. Play your way. But never at someone else’s expense.

Community Standards & Safety Policy V2.0 · Final V2.0 Version (Beta) · Version date: 21 August 2026

1. Purpose & Our Community Standard

Project Beacon exists to help gamers find people they genuinely enjoy playing with. Different games, skill levels, personalities, platforms and play styles are welcome here. What is not welcome is behaviour that makes another person feel threatened, targeted, exploited, humiliated or unsafe.

Our standard is simple: Find your people. Play your way. But never at someone else’s expense.

These Standards explain the behaviour expected on Beacon, the tools available when something goes wrong, and how Beacon may respond when the Standards are violated. They apply throughout Beacon, including profiles, Gamer DNA, Connections, private messages, reports and other member interactions.

2. Who These Standards Apply To

These Standards apply to everyone using Project Beacon. The Closed Beta is intended only for people who are at least 18 years old. Members and Beta applicants are required to confirm that they are 18 or older. Beacon does not currently independently verify every member’s age or collect a date of birth as part of that process.

Using Beacon means being responsible for your conduct toward other members, even when a disagreement began in a game, on another platform, or outside Beacon.

3. Respect, Harassment & Stalking

Disagreement is not automatically harassment. Gaming communities can be competitive, sarcastic and opinionated. The line is crossed when conduct becomes targeted, persistent, intimidating, degrading or unwanted.

  • Do not repeatedly contact someone who has made it clear they do not want contact.
  • Do not target, bully, humiliate or intimidate another member.
  • Do not coordinate harassment or encourage others to target a member.
  • Do not use new accounts, alternate channels or other workarounds to continue unwanted contact.
  • Do not misuse Beacon features to monitor, pressure or pursue another person.

If someone disconnects from or blocks you, respect that boundary.

4. Hate & Discrimination

Beacon does not permit attacks, degrading treatment, exclusionary harassment or hateful conduct directed at a person or group because of protected or personal characteristics. This includes slurs, dehumanizing language, calls for exclusion or violence, and targeted discriminatory harassment.

Context matters, but “it was a joke” does not automatically make targeted hateful conduct acceptable.

5. Threats, Violence & Intimidation

Do not threaten, encourage or glorify violence against another Beacon member or use threats to frighten, coerce or control someone. Credible threats, attempts to coordinate real-world harm, or conduct that creates an immediate safety concern may result in serious enforcement and may be referred to appropriate authorities where necessary or required by law.

Beacon cannot guarantee immediate intervention or continuously monitor member activity. If you believe someone is in immediate danger, contact the appropriate local emergency service rather than relying on Beacon reporting alone.

6. Sexual Harassment & Unwanted Conduct

Beacon is an 18+ community, but being an adult does not mean consenting to sexual attention. Do not send unwanted sexual messages, repeatedly pursue romantic or sexual contact after rejection, pressure another member for sexual content, or use sexually degrading conduct to target someone.

Sharing another person’s intimate or sexual content without their consent is prohibited.

7. Privacy, Doxxing & Personal Information

Respect other people’s privacy. Do not publish, threaten to publish, solicit or distribute another person’s private or identifying information without permission. This includes information such as home addresses, private phone numbers, personal email addresses, financial information, private account credentials or other information that could reasonably put someone at risk.

Do not use information learned through Beacon to stalk, threaten, impersonate or harass someone elsewhere.

8. Impersonation, Fraud & Deception

Do not impersonate another person, misrepresent yourself in a way intended to deceive or harm others, or use Beacon to facilitate fraud. Do not attempt to obtain passwords, account credentials, money or other sensitive information through deception.

Misleading someone about ordinary gaming preferences is different from deliberately pretending to be another real person or using deception to exploit a member. Beacon considers context and potential harm when reviewing conduct.

9. Spam, Scams & Malicious Activity

Do not use Beacon to spam members, distribute scams, send malicious links, spread malware, phish for credentials, manipulate platform systems or engage in activity intended to compromise another member’s account or device.

Do not abuse automated or repetitive behaviour to disrupt Beacon or overwhelm its members, reporting systems or support channels.

10. Profiles, Gamer DNA & Member Conduct

Your profile and Gamer DNA are meant to help other gamers understand who you are and what it may be like to play together. Do not use profile fields, handles, avatars, About text, Gamer DNA or other member-facing areas to harass, threaten, impersonate, discriminate against or expose private information about another person.

Gamer DNA is a compatibility and self-expression feature, not a licence to stereotype, demean or pressure another member. Differences in play style or compatibility are not justification for abusive conduct.

11. Messaging & Connections

Beacon messaging is intended for members who are Connected. A Connection is not permanent permission for any type of contact. Respect boundaries and stop unwanted communication when asked.

Private messages are not proactively or continuously monitored by Beacon. When a conversation is reported through Beacon, relevant conversation information may be preserved with the report so Beacon can review what was reported even if underlying content later changes.

Do not use messaging to harass, threaten, scam, pressure, sexually harass or otherwise violate these Standards.

12. Blocking

Blocking is a member-controlled safety boundary. Beacon may use a block to prevent or restrict further interaction between the people involved, including messaging and relationship functions supported by the platform.

Beacon does not notify a member that another member has blocked them. Do not attempt to circumvent a block by creating another account, using another person’s account or moving the unwanted contact to another channel.

Members can reverse their own blocks through the controls Beacon provides.

13. Reporting a Safety Concern

If something happens on Beacon that may violate these Standards, use the in-app Report feature whenever possible. In-app reporting is the preferred method because it can preserve relevant information with the report and gives Beacon better context for review.

Depending on where the issue occurred, Beacon allows members to report another member or a conversation. Reports can include a reason and additional context. Conversation reports may preserve a limited snapshot of relevant messages; member reports may preserve relevant profile information that was visible to the reporter at the time.

Reports should be made in good faith. Deliberately false, retaliatory, repetitive or abusive reporting may itself violate these Standards. Beacon uses abuse protections to help prevent misuse of the reporting system.

For a safety concern that cannot reasonably be reported through the app, contact report@joinprojectbeacon.com.

14. What Happens After You Report

Submitting a report does not guarantee a particular outcome. Beacon may review the information supplied with the report, preserved evidence, relevant account history and other information reasonably necessary to understand what happened.

The person being reported is not told who submitted the report through Beacon’s normal reporting process. Beacon does not promise to disclose the outcome of every report to the reporting member.

Beacon may close a report without enforcement, take an enforcement action, preserve the report for safety or legal reasons, or take other reasonable steps based on the available information and context.

15. Enforcement

Beacon’s goal is to protect the community, not to create punishment for its own sake. Enforcement decisions may consider the seriousness of the behaviour, available evidence, context, repetition, prior account history, risk to other members and whether the conduct appears intentional.

Depending on the situation, Beacon may take actions that include warnings or other interventions where available, temporary suspension of access, indefinite suspension of access, reversal of an enforcement decision, or other measures reasonably necessary to protect Beacon and its members.

Not every violation will receive the same response, and Beacon does not guarantee a fixed escalation ladder. Serious conduct may result in stronger action without prior lesser enforcement.

16. Temporary Suspensions

A temporary suspension prevents a member from accessing Beacon for a defined period. The member may be shown that their account is suspended and, where applicable, when access is expected to return. Beacon may also send a notification to the email address associated with the account.

A temporary suspension may end automatically when its defined period expires or may be ended through an administrative review. Enforcement history may be retained as described in Beacon’s Privacy Policy and retention practices.

17. Indefinite Suspensions

For serious, repeated or otherwise significant violations, Beacon may suspend an account without a scheduled end date. This is an indefinite suspension of access to Beacon.

A member subject to an indefinite suspension may contact Beacon Support to request that the decision be reviewed. A request for review does not guarantee that access will be restored.

18. Returning After an Indefinite Suspension

Creating or using another account to get around an indefinite suspension is prohibited. Beacon may use limited account and security information to identify potential attempts to return after an indefinite suspension.

Potential matches are subject to administrative review and do not automatically result in enforcement solely because a technical match occurred. Beacon intentionally does not publish the security methods, thresholds or signals used to protect this process.

19. Requesting Review of an Enforcement Decision

If you believe a temporary or indefinite suspension was made in error, you may contact support@joinprojectbeacon.com and ask Beacon to review the decision.

This is a request for review, not a formal appeal tribunal or guaranteed process. Beacon does not currently promise a particular response time, a specific review outcome or automatic restoration of access. Where an enforcement decision is reversed, Beacon may preserve a record of the original action and the reversal for safety, accountability and audit purposes.

20. Safety Records & Evidence

Beacon may retain reports, preserved evidence and enforcement records for defined periods to investigate safety concerns, identify repeated misconduct, support enforcement review, protect members, maintain accountability and meet legal or operational requirements.

Some safety information may be kept after the underlying profile, message or account changes or is deleted. Retention periods and account-deletion effects are described in Beacon’s Privacy Policy. Beacon may place a retention hold on certain safety records where preservation is reasonably necessary for an active safety, legal or dispute matter.

21. Account Deletion Following Enforcement

Deleting a Beacon account does not necessarily erase every safety or enforcement record associated with that account. Reports and preserved safety evidence may remain for the applicable retention period.

If an account subject to an indefinite suspension is deleted, Beacon may retain a minimized enforcement record and limited privacy-protective account signal for a defined period to help identify attempts to circumvent the suspension. Beacon does not need to retain the deleted member’s plaintext email address in that enforcement record for this purpose.

22. Our 18+ Community

Project Beacon’s Closed Beta is for people aged 18 or older. Members and Beta applicants must confirm that they meet this requirement.

Beacon does not currently perform independent identity or age verification for every member. If Beacon becomes aware that an account does not meet the age requirement, it may restrict or remove access and take reasonable steps regarding the associated information.

23. Contacting Beacon

Use the in-app Report feature whenever possible for conduct or safety concerns that occurred on Beacon.

If you believe there is an immediate risk of physical harm or another emergency, contact the appropriate local emergency service. Beacon’s reporting and support channels are not emergency services.

24. Changes to These Standards

Beacon may update these Community Standards & Safety Policy as the platform, community and safety systems evolve. The current version will identify its effective date. Where a change is material, Beacon may provide additional notice where appropriate or required.

Continued use of Beacon is subject to the current Terms of Service, Privacy Policy, and these Community Standards & Safety Policy.
